Advanced Linux System Administration

About This Course

This five-day "boot camp" course includes a brief, level setting overview of the Linux/Unix environment. Topics and hands on troubleshooting skills are covered in the bulk of the time is addition to special topics in Linux system administration. Some customization is done of each course to reflect topics of particular interest to students. A sample course outline is provided below.

Who Should Attend

The intended audience of the course includes computer professionals with Unix experience who want to extend the knowledge to Linux and professionals who have been perfoming Linux system administration in a server environment for at least one year.

Learning Objectives

  1. Refresher and update of Fundamental LSA
  2. Learning to manage Linux in a larger environment
  3. Be ready to take the LPI Level 2 certification test
  4. Emabrk on the road to becoming a subject matter expert in class's elective topics

Prerequisites

  1.  
    1. Students should have at least one year of Linux System adminsitration in a server environment, or
    2. Completed our Fundamental Linux System Administration class, or
    3. Passed LPI Level 1 certification test, or
    4. have equivalent experience
    5. Students should know how to:
      •  
        • Install modern Linux
        • Maintain and apply patches
        • Write Scripts in Perl& Bash
        • Understand basic network configuration and network services
        • Understand how to secure a system configuration.

Five (5) days, 9 am - 5 pm

This course is offered based on demand. Check the calendar for updates. Call (734) 761-4689 to schedule a class. Course will be held with a minimum of four (4) students. For the optimal class experience, class size should not exceed eight (8) students.

Availability:

While the Linux System Administration class is not a prep class for the LPI exam, the Linux Box does offer the Pearson VUE test to its students. Other test location can be found at the Pearson VUE website.
